The "Obstacles and resources" technique
This method helps you see the situation in full: where you're heading, what stands in the way and what to lean on. Three cards — goal, obstacle, resource — build a clear picture.
1
Phrase your
question
Describe the situation that troubles you or where you feel stuck. What do you want to change; where is clarity missing?
2
Choose
a deck
Imagery and metaphoric decks work best for obstacles — they help see the situation from a new angle.
3
Draw the card
"Goal"
This card shows your true goal in the situation — what you actually strive for, even if you don't realize it yet.
4
Draw the card
"Obstacle"
The card reveals what exactly blocks the movement: external circumstances, a fear, a habit or an inner conflict.
5
Draw the card
"Resource"
The card suggests what you can lean on to pass the obstacle: a quality, a person, a skill or inner experience.
6
Interpret
the result
Bring the three cards into one story. Goal, obstacle and resource together will suggest a concrete step you can take right now.
