Self-Control (BSCS-13)

The Brief Self-Control Scale (Tangney, Baumeister & Boone) assesses the general capacity for self-control — restraining impulses, resisting temptations, not getting distracted by pleasures at the expense of work, and following through on long-term goals. Self-control is not "strain" but a resource and a skill; it predicts wellbeing, achievement, and relationship quality better than many other traits, and, unlike many, it can be trained.

Before you start
This assesses the general capacity for self-control, not "strength of character." Self-control is a depletable resource: it drops with fatigue, stress, and lack of sleep, and that's not "weak will." A low score points to a zone where you can lean on environment and habits rather than raw effort.
