Grit (Grit-S)

The Short Grit Scale (Duckworth & Quinn) measures "grit" — passion and perseverance in the pursuit of long-term goals. Grit consists of two parts: perseverance of effort (the ability to continue after setbacks) and consistency of interests (the ability not to get distracted by new things and to see long endeavors through). It's not "work capacity" or talent, but what allows you to finish a multi-year endeavor — and it can be trained.

Before you start
This describes your habitual style of moving toward long-term goals, not an assessment of your "character." Grit is not a synonym for "always straining": excessive consistency can cover an inability to change direction when needed. A low score is not "weakness of character" but an indication of which of the two parts is sagging.
